Highlights of Today’s Show...
January 23, 2010
Yo Soy Latino is as in your face as you can possible get especially when it comes to broadcasting; and, this Saturday was no different.

Amid the tragedy following the January 12 earthquake in Haiti and a faltering economy, YSL welcomed Congressman Kenneth B. Meek (D) from Florida’s 17th district who represents one of the largest Haitian communities in the United States. Jose chatted with the Congressman about the current situation in Haiti and how his constituents were dealing with the tragic events which had befallen this country —and we’re talking epic proportions.

The Congressman wanted our listening audience to know that his constituents have been moved by all the expression of love and aid that has poured out from this earthquake ravaged country. How everyone including our Latino sisters and brothers have come together in solidarity to help. This was and continues to be an incredible humanitarian effort as people work together to help one another. It was awe-inspiring to hear the details.

When asked by Jose if all the supplies have been getting in with reports of large bottle necks of supplies being tied up just inside the airport and with further reports of some looting and rioting going on. His response was that the United States among other nations was doing yeomen’s work taking control of a chaotic situation with only one airport runway operating and that the Navy and Air Force was now in control of correcting the situation.

As for some of the reports of looting and rioting being reported, he replied it was at best an isolated situation given the peril and the dire needs of the situation people dead or dieing, without food, shelter, water the basic human needs especially given the fact that this was already a very poor country to begin with. He said given all this the people of Haiti continue to be strong and filled with hope and thankful for all the help especially from the United States and the international communities. The Congressman further stated that he will come back to YSL and keep our listeners up to date on what’s going on.

In addition, YSL also had the honor of having as its guest the one and only live and in living color Mr. Kue Reyes — actor, comedian, writer, and producer of the recently launched “Latino 101”. Kue is no stranger to YSL. But it was a genuine pleasure having him in our studio as we discussed “Latino 101” which premiered January 8th on SITV. Unfortunately, we can not see it broadcast in Orlando as yet but if you happen to be in Miami, make certain you don’t miss it. It broadcasts every Friday at 9:00 p.m. And, if you've missed any part of the interview, please visit our achieved shows.

Fashion...
January 23, 2010
The news for 2010 is that Fashion promises to be an exciting year. As many great classically inspired trends will have a serious infusion of skin and sex. So if ever there was a time to hit the gym or get back to aerobics now is the time. Hemlines have gone shorter than short; we’re talking just a tad below the derriere while other styles will have the feel, look and grace of flowing fabric, revealing just a hint of the leg. Here are four key looks for spring and summer 2010.

Hot pants or boy short which reveal more than just the legs.
They were extremely popular in the late 80’s and early 90’s and referred to as Daisy Dukes shorts. Then hitting the runway once again in 2008 but grew stronger in popularity in 2009; and, for 2010 they are hotter than ever, and are not to be worn if you are a faint of heart, for they are for the confident personality, which of course means a great figure.

Knee high & over the knee socks are also making a come back.

Military and Tribal Trends.
This is just a basic fusion of the two styles coming together to become one fierce fashion trend. The military look has been big for some time now, but today it’s evolving. You're going to see elements of the military trends reinterpreted with a modern - often futuristic - twist. It’s going to be a little wilder and fiercer. This new look is going to bring a bit of the ancient civilizations and the warriors to life for Spring/Summer 2010.

High dress splits
Long slit skirts or maxi dresses in light, flowing fabrics that give a not-so-subtle hint of leg as one walks, or rather struts by, giving more than a hint of leg. The split reaches the top of the thigh to the hip infusing pure sex into a dress. Other styles will be in the breezy, free flowing fabric like the draping Grecian styles with just a hint or an injection of thigh-baring modernity, very sensual.

How to wear dresses with particular designs.... Heels are a must. Flat shoes just don't do the look justice, and will only cancel out the utter sexiness of the above the thigh split.

Tanned, toned, bare legs are perfect for this look in summer. But if a tan is out of the question, use over the counter tanners but make certain you wash your hands thoroughly after each application.

Go for light, breezy fabrics this season. Movement and flow are a big part of the charm. Take inspiration from the Grecian trend and marry a draping Goddess dress with a high split for the ultimate in summer sultriness. Use this look for those special occasions when you really want to turn heads like a dinner with your significant other, a night out with the girls or just a casual date with that special someone in your life.

Well that concludes our program for today. Tune in next week as Jose and Haydee and the YSL team speak with Paul Partyka, candidate hopeful for Congress 2010 District 24 (D) and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez as they challenge you think outside the box, that’s Saturday from Noon to 1pm.
