Highlights of the June 20th Show...

Jose after delivering his introduction eases his audience to the events of day. Covering certain local issues—from a conversation he had with someone concerning Brooksville, Florida. In which the City Council was brave enough to pass a law about employees using deodorant and wearing underwear. Which of course lead to another discussion on who would be the czar to check on compliance, Hmm?

Followed by a talk he had with a gentleman representing us with several utility companies in which they are collecting now for building a nuclear reactor and during this process the cost will be absorbed by, you guessed it, consumers. Now keep in mind that this may not take place for another three to four years meanwhile they will amass the interest on this proposed plan while your utility rates rise.

Then Jose leads his listeners to another interesting matter regarding a group called PRFAA (the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration) located in Washington DC with regional offices in New York, Chicago and Orlando, formerly headed by Richard Figueroa. This agency represented the island of Puerto Rico. It has been instrumental in providing assistance to state agencies and municipalities in grant-seeking and unfortunately closed. Jose raised several questions which he believes needs to be answered in the following months ahead. I’m certain he will be looking into this matter further and deliver any updates at a later show.

As he begins to wrap up on the local and national issues Jose introduces his notable guest, Dr. Joseph A. Strager, DMD, General Dentistry, Orange Dental and Associates.

Dr. Joe enters the conversation with such poise and humility; and, a genuine deep appreciation for being on the Yo Soy Latino show. His soft spoken demeanor made him easy to talk to, giving way to soothing anyone’s childhood reservations. And, it’s not easy to disallow one’s personal views, which I’m sure we all have them especially after years of apprehension. But, when he spoke he seemed to address our listeners and callers with such tenderness you couldn’t help wonder maybe just maybe I’ll change my thoughts about dentistry.

We had one caller in particular who expressed her concerns/issues about her teeth, which affected her smile. For as long as she could remember she had a desire to fix them but couldn’t. Stating how others commented about her having such a lovely smile, yet she continually suspended from showing it. Ironically enough she isn’t alone for there are many with the same feelings—a lack of confidence in oneself, maybe even fears.

So she asked Dr. Joe how she could change that. Dr. Joe stressed that she truly needs to put herself out there. Interview dentists and see which one fits her needs. Do not get caught up with degrees or universities. Just relax and make a pleasant conversation.

Keep in mind you are the one interviewing your doctor. View the doctor as a friend, establish that trust for it will translate in the end to the final results but listen to your own voice and be openly aware of your feelings. You need to be honestly relaxed and comfortable with the person you will eventually decide to be your dentist.

The conversation with Dr. Joe went from fillings on to what Jose referred to as a “kool-aid” smile—talking about having a bright luminous smile which integrated the old with the new dentistry until ultimately the subject settled on the difference between veneers to lumineers.

Once we got passed that Jose look at the affect teeth have on health. Dr. Joe quickly enlightened us that the mouth is full of bacteria. As a result, that bacterium when ignored can spread thru the blood stream becoming a bigger problem and thus the treatment more expensive. It’s not something one should belabor or postpone, regardless of their circumstances. There are plenty of dentists that are willing to work with you. So go out there and interview. There is nothing greater than a smile that reflects the beauty within you.

It was a genuine pleasure having Dr. Joe on the Yo Soy Latino show with Jose. Feel free to contact Dr. Joe Strager of Orange Dental Associates at 407-856-2555. His office is conveniently located at 12329 S Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, Florida.

Thank you for spending this hour with Jose and the YSL team as we conclude our interview with Dr. Joseph A. Strager. We welcome you back next week for another cup of espresso as we bring you two rather remarkable guests who just happen to be writers, Ms. Lara Dien (a YSL regular) and Ms. Dora Edmonson. Both are published authors and their books are quite steamy. So prepare yourself for a smoking conversation with Jose as he braves these two dynamic women alone.

Haydee’s Slice of Fashion...

Today we will cover “casual wear” especially during these hot days when the barometer feels incredibly HIGH! So when you’re looking for the latest in casual wear make sure it makes you feel beautiful and for you gents dashing but you should always look good next to your partner. Keep in mind that the fabric blend should provide comfort and ease. It should be a piece that is as perfect as it can be for any occasion.
Always look for clothing that will flatter your body type. For Men choose from a sleeveless T-shirt or a v-neck one, experiment with colors and pair it off with some shorts, use any color linen tie-up pant and combine it with a polo shirt or a Guayabera shirt, add jeans to your wardrobe and pair it with any multihued T-shirt, that works well—even workout wear, feel free to mix and match.

The key in wearing T-shirts is to show off your outline rather than the love handles and go with shorts or any loose fitted pants. But, when considering shorts select those that break above the knee, not only will they be soothing but also fashionable. Avoid cargo shorts, shorts that break below the knee, avid wash or bleached shorts in denim, as well as overly patterned shorts.

Since women have a larger selection in clothing, I would suggest the Grecian dress long or short, summer dresses in various prints which gather below your upper body and can silhouette your figure. Consider shorts paired with a nice tapered top but not too clingy or a tunic top which falls slightly below your hips or falls somewhat on your hips and pair it with crop pants or leggings. Then add some espadrilles or sandals, even stilettos will work, and you’ve got a sensational look.

HOWEVER, no outfit is complete without the perfect selection of accessories. Sunglasses are now as important as handbags are to women and always in vogue for men. Since today's styles are whimsical and fun, everyone is able to show off their unique personality. In my research I have found that there are vast selections, so I will only cover a few.

Wayfarers—If you're unfamiliar this style is the same worn by Tom Cruise in Risky Business. Though the design has changed slightly it does give a very smart look to any man or woman. Aviators—a very popular eyewear and a style which flatters most any face. It was first used by naval aviators, but made trendy with the movie, "Top Gun" worn by Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer.

Lolita Heart Sunglasses—fun and flirty! Actually they were first worn in the 1962 movie, "Lolita". You can find them in every color. Then of course we have the oversized. These are still very popular.

The Millionaires by Louis Vuittun are still going strong for 2009. Celebrities such as Kayne West, Rihanna and Paris Hilton love this style.

On the other hand, the “clear lens” Wayfarers is by far the most sought after! It is no secret the days of hiding your eyes is over. The sales of these eyeglasses have skyrocketed. It is the new sexy and the new "must have" accessory for 2009.

Remember, know what works for you and look fresh all season long. By looking good and feeling active, a more confident you will emerge.
