Highlights of Today’s Program...

Today marks the sixth month anniversary of the airing of the “Yo Soy Latino Show with Jose Miranda” and we wanted to make this program uniquely special by grandfathering some highlights of previous shows.

However, due to time constraints Jose pressed forward with the interview introducing his guest the inimitable Marco Rubio, the upcoming 2010 Senatorial candidate for the state of Florida. Jose begins the dialogue by asking Marco if I were a regular guy who didn’t know you, what would make you stand out above another candidate. Marco replied, “The first thing I will tell you is that the United States of America is the best country that’s ever existed. It may not be perfect but it’s the only country where one can be free and prosperous”.

Rubio clearly had no reluctance in voicing his views. In addition, he stated, “my desire is to make a contribution, one that our children will be proud to inherit a better more vibrant America. However if we continue in the direction we are going now, we are going to be worst off and that is unacceptable”. His thoughts were lucid and easy flowing.

“There are multiple reasons for this. We have a government that is spending itself into bankruptcy spending monies it does not have by borrowing from industrialists by printing it thereby devaluing our currency. Further, it goes against and well beyond what our founders envisioned when they drafted the Constitution”.

“We have way too many manipulators. Members in our political system and governmental institutions who fail to give any real straight talk to the people especially with the political tumult sweeping our state and our nation. People need to hear real straight talk not just individuals looking to further their careers”.

When asked if he believed in officials being in office for a term, he quickly replied, “Yes! It’s time to remove the people that are in favor of keeping things status quo”. Rubio feels we need a new movement of people, individuals that have not made politics their career. Overall, we got through a lot of material in a short amount of time. It’s apparent that his campaign will be for changing the country for the better.

Though Marco Rubio is unknown to most people, he is rapidly ascending in the public eye as one Latino to be taken seriously. His energetic demeanor and fearless convictions will surely make him a runner for the seat bringing a new vibrancy to the Senate and a better tomorrow.

Trendy Timepieces
July 4, 2009

We all have a burning desire to create and make things our own. Why not the small piece of wrist jewelry that’s so perfect for any attire? No, I’m not referring to a stylish bracelet but a watch. A timepiece that is made to be worn on your wrist yet, it is the one piece of jewelry that is so often overlooked. If you are like most you own one; and, perhaps that one piece of jewelry has been around forever. Or, if you’re the average person you might even own two.

However, a watch should be as diverse and as different as you serving multiple purposes. Today there’s such a overwhelming selection of fabulous styles and incredible designs—from the most inexpensive and medium-priced watches which are used mainly for timekeeping, to the expensive collectible watches valued more for their workmanship and aesthetic appeal.

Clearly these updated designs do make it nearly impossible for any fashionista to limit themselves to just the basic timepieces. But, a basic collection is important and really all you need. It should accommodate your adventurous side, your seductive side, your fun and flirty side, to your more discernible elegant side.

At the office or a fine restaurant think comfort but well-dressed. While women have a broader assortment, our choice for men is the Cuervo y Sobrinos Esplendidos. Why this best pick, it is unchanging. This small unassuming piece of jewelry was reminiscent of a bygone era that clearly illustrated romance, beauty and style.

Imagine yourself in Havana in the 40s being right there with Xavier Cugat as he drinks a Mojito. You’re listening to the beat of the Cuban drums loudly playing that salsa rhythm and the cooling breeze of the night brushes against your face. Well, anyone wearing this watch can have such a connection just by having it on because its simplicity is ageless and a reminder of unpretentious times.

So don’t limit yourself to just one or two styles of wrist jewelry. Check the malls and the internet find that special piece that’s unique to you then go ahead and make it your own. Nowadays, fine watches are a reflection of you. Just think seasons being four, and you’ll have what you need.

On behalf of Jose and the YSL team, we want to thank Marco Rubio for taking the time to do this interview, and look forward to bringing him back soon to follow up on his continued progress.

As the show winds down we hope you liked our program and welcome you back next week to enjoy more of Jose and the Yo Soy Latino Show. Our scheduled guest is Shannyn Moore, a progressive talk show host on KBYR 700 AM. Till then, we wish you a safe and a....Happy 4th of July!
