Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 — Rating: 4.5 STARS
This 2-hour and 10-minute epic conclusion to J. K. Rowling’s adventures of Harry Potter is by far the best! Having both the narrative balance and refinement that is sure to please any fan of the Harry Potter saga, it is the ultimate showdown between good and evil. Nothing technically has been held back making it especially satisfying with all its ups and downs. Besides seeing these young actors all grown up, it was striking to see the mystical Hogwarts as a crumbled ruin — earth-shattering, no pun intended. Overall, Deathly Hallows is a straightforward thrill-a-minute capper to one of the most complex convoluted plots. Furthermore, it is one film that will certainly keep you bolted to your seat. A must-see summer blockbuster!

Gov. Rick Scott issued a statement Friday supporting the Labor Department inquiry stating his administration has zero tolerance for the misuse of taxpayer dollars. Interesting!

Workforce Central Florida already faces a state inspector general probe, begun last month, over its contracting practices. Agency officials would not answer questions Friday.

Here He Comes Again...The One and Only Alan Grayson
by J. Miranda
He has been called by some arrogant, bombastic, self-serving and yet this freshman Congressman from Florida was able to stir the sitting bullies in Congress who have been doaling out misinformation and lies for well over a year to protest the Congressman claims that all republicans wanted for its citizens was for them to die and to die quickly

He was the only “D” as in Democrat who stood up in Congress to protest the lies being put out by the Republicans’ over the health care debate and one congressman that republicans wanted out of office at all cost in the next election

Of course I’m speaking about former Congressman Alan Grayson who stopped by Yo Soy Latino to speak with hosts Jose Miranda & Haydee Ayala. First question out of the gate by Miranda was the issue on how he was preserved by the public

The Congressman didn’t hesitate he said he was passionate about his cause if speaking up for the disabled, the poor, the elderly, for speaking up about people losing their homes, for high unemployment then yes he was passionate and concerned and why aren’t other “D’s”? Where is the public out cry?

Mr. Grayson is running for his old seat and when asked by Miranda, the question if he was now new and improved and how this new campaign was going to be different. The former congressmen flatly stated he was for the people who could not answer for themselves, who were under water in their homes; who were struggling every day to make ends meet no, he had not changed he was even more committed to engage those who were destroying the middle class the backbone of America.

Want to hear more about this guy, this trouble maker who dares speak up right or wrong you can’t stand on the sidelines about this guy check out the rest of the interview on Yo Soy Latino.

Renew a Great Summer Look with BANGS!
July 16, 2011
Whether it’s a blunt cut or side-swept, bangs are great and the look is back this summer — big time. Bangs continue to maintain their popularity because it is the perfect solution for a quick style change. Not only does it avoid a boring hair routine, but it also can conceal certain flaws. And, choosing the right style can (very important) enhance ones best facial features.

One of the hottest comeback looks for 2011 are bangs, especially those that go straight across. What is different from last season is in the thickness of these bangs. They start further back from the crown of your head to slightly below your brows. This look frames the shape of the face beautifully. Mainly because it draws attention to your features, particularly your eyes and works exceptionally well on short or long hairstyles.

Then, there is the side-swept bang which is also quite popular. Side swept bangs look equally fabulous especially when the hair is styled straight, wavy or curly because it adds a more textured layer look to the face, adding more ‘oomph’ by taking your hairstyle from fabulous to amazing!

It is one style that can go from the office to that special event as it is playful yet flirty. Other styles do have an infusion of both looks. However, the difference can be a bit bolder or edgier as it relates to the blunt or side-swept cut and with a little gel and imagination you can add a change here and there. Who says you can have it all!

NBA lays off 114 Employees
New York (ESPN NBA) — In the past two days, the NBA laid off 114 people as part of their planned cost-cutting moves — representing about 11percent of the league office workforce in NY, NJ and internationally — which a league spokesman (Mike Bass) said Thursday are “not a direct result of the lockout but rather a response to the same underlying issue; that is, the league’s expenses far outpace our revenues.”

Free-agency Rule at Issue, Source Says
(ESPN/NFL) — After progress “on a wide range of issues” this week, the NFL and players took a break late Friday afternoon after the day’s negotiations stalled over what a source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio said was a free-agency rule. The players have been unwilling to grant NFL teams extra right-of-first-refusals on this year’s free agent class, because many of those free agents were restricted under last year’s uncapped system. A 2011 salary cap of $120 million and a rookie wage system, which was seen by sources familiar with the process as the last remaining major hurdle to a deal, have both been agreed to, sources told ESPN.

Tuna Ceviche with Avocado and Cilantro
July 16, 2011
Rick Bayless’ salpimentado (salt-and-pepper) ceviche is typical of what one would find at stands around the southern tip of Baja. Can be made with sierra (a large and meaty Mexican fish), but tuna works just as well.

Serving: 6 • Time: 1 HR 30 MIN (Active 30 MIN)

Ingredients:
1 pound sushi-grade tuna, sliced ¼ inch thick
1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced
¾ cup fresh lime juice (from about 5 limes)
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 large Hass avocado, cut into 1/3 inch dice
¼ cup coarsely chopped cilantro, plus leaves for garnish
Salt
Tortilla chips, for serving

Directions:
Line a baking sheet with plastic wrap. Arrange the tuna slices in a single layer on the banking sheet and freeze until fairly firm, about 15 minutes.

Stack the slices of tuna. Using a very sharp chef’s knife cut the tuna in to neat ¼ inch cubes. Transfer the cubed tuna to a medium glass or ceramic bowl and stir in the red onion, lime juice and black pepper. Cover the tuna with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour, stirring gently with a plastic spatula every 15 to 20 minutes (the diced tuna will change color slightly).

Just before serving, gently fold in the diced avocado and chopped cilantro and season with salt. Transfer the ceviche to a bowl or individual glasses. Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve with tortilla chips.

The Buttery Fruit that Fights Wrinkles
July 16, 2011
(Real Age) Get smoother, younger looking skin by eating more of this sweet, buttery-textured fruit, PAPAYA.

Research shows that eating a diet high in carotenoid-rich foods — like papaya — helps boost people’s defenses against the sun’s damaging rays. And, that helps skin fight off wrinkles.

So put your best face forward! In a study of people between the ages of 40 and 50, those who had the highest skin levels of carotenoids had the smoothest, youngest looking complexions. Their furrows and wrinkles were not as numerous or as deep. Furthermore, researchers speculate that it was because of the high antioxidant value of the carotenoids circulating in the bloodstreams of the younger looking group. Carotenoids are a family of antioxidants that include body helpers like beta carotene, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin — just to name a few.

You can find this in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, so papaya isn’t your only source of skin-protective nutrients. Here are a few other sources: mangoes, cantaloupe, tomatoes, watermelon and grapefruit. Getting your fill will give your body not only a means of maintaining healthy skin but will also help boost immunity along with eye and heart health. Everyday things like stress, illness, lack of sleep and if you live in Florida sun exposure all can sap your levels. The best way to combat this would be with fruits and vegetables.

House GOP signals Openness to Backup Debt Plan
July 16, 2011
Washington (CNN) — In a sharp turnaround, House Republican leaders signaled Thursday they are open to a backup debt ceiling plan pushed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to avoid a default on the nation's credit.

"What may look like something less than optimal today, if we're unable to get to an agreement, might look pretty good a couple of weeks from now," House Speaker John Boehner said during a Capitol Hill news conference.

Boehner, R-Ohio, emphasized the McConnell proposal was something he thought should be on the table only if negotiations collapsed.

"I think it's worth keeping on the table. There are a lot of options that people have floated and, frankly, I think it's an option that may be worthy at some point," Boehner said.

The change in position was notable because just a day earlier, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Virginia, said the measure couldn't pass the House.

But GOP aides now say that as talks remain stalled and the deadline nears, leaders are leaving open the option that some version of the McConnell plan could come before the House.

McConnell's proposal would allow three short-term increases to the debt ceiling between now and the end of next year. Congress could vote against an increase by passing a resolution of disapproval. The president could then veto the resolution of disapproval, but it would be unlikely Congress would have enough votes to override his veto.

But now, as the White House negotiations falter, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, and McConnell, R-Kentucky, are working on a variation of the Senate GOP leader's plan that could serve as way around the debt impasse. It would combine McConnell's proposal, which requires three votes on short-term increases in the debt limit, with a Democratic proposal that would create a bipartisan commission to recommend entitlement and spending cuts, tax increases and other measures designed to reduce the debt, according to congressional aides. Congress would then vote on the package but would not be allowed to amend it.

In addition, aides said Reid and McConnell are considering including in the plan more than $1 trillion in spending cuts that the Biden-led talks had identified, in a bid to gain support from House Republicans.
House conservatives have strongly opposed McConnell's original framework because it would give the president the authority to raise the debt ceiling without requiring any spending cuts in return.

One House GOP congressional aide said details were still scarce on the Senate plan, but said "it's feasible" House Republicans could accept a version of the McConnell-Reid plan if spending cuts were included.

In a sign of the tough challenge for Speaker Boehner to get conservative support, one of his lieutenants at the leadership table, freshman Rep. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina, dismissed McConnell's back up plan as "unworthy, unrealistic and an abdication of the responsibility of the majority."

But Scott also conceded that as the clock ticked down toward the deadline - even with a group of conservatives opposed to any deal - Boehner could get enough votes to pass something.

"I think there's a possibility that a lot of folks will do a lot of things when the pressure gets really hot. The only question is can you survive those, that abdication, come election day in about 15 or 16 months," Scott said.

As Democrats accused Cantor of undermining White House negotiations after a tense exchange with President Obama at the end of Wednesday's meeting, both he and Boehner sought to show they are united. At one point during Thursday's Capitol Hill press conference, Boehner walked over to Cantor, who was answering a question about the reported split between them, and put his arm around him, as reporters and aides to the leaders chuckled at the deliberate public gesture. The sound of cameras clicking could be heard as photographers moved quickly to capture the moment.

Boehner then defended Cantor, saying, "We have been in this fight together and any suggestion about the role that Eric has played in these meetings has been anything less than helpful is just wrong."
