YSL Special Announcement...

99ers Want to Work, Bill S.3602 — Here’s what you need to do!
This is not the time to be silent. Let your voices be heard! There’s going to be HUGE hurdles to overcome in order for this bill to become law; and, vocal support is essential. Don’t delude yourself into thinking it will just happen. Too many hard working Americans are unemployed today. Just in Central Florida alone the unemployment rate is 11.9%.

If you are among the citizens who favor getting this bill passed, don’t wait for a miracle to happen, raise your voices loudly and clearly. Write to your Senators, Representative, and all other local officials. If you haven’t an idea on what to say, try this....

If the Tier 5 unemployment extension is not passed before you adjourn in October, I will make every effort via the internet and every other tactic I can think of to lobby voters in your state to make certain that you are not re-elected.

However if it is passed and you get the legislation on the docket, I will be the first to lobby in your state to vote for you.

I assure you the 99ers and all those in favor of getting this bill passed will act as one united force and we will attack any and all who oppose it in reference to their re-election bids.

This is not the time to leave a soft footprint, get those emails, faxes, make your calls but don’t delay!

And, for all those that are against, cut those 11.9% hardworking Americas some slack or better still offer them a job where they can support their families and keep a roof over their heads. After all, they’re not all lazy contrary to some opinions.

Interview with Elena Linares, Ray Barkley, and Keith Longmore

Devil
3-Stars
Devil is what I would consider a mystery rather than a horror movie. It does a very good job of building tension playing on people’s superstitions but it was more cliché. The only time anything horrifying happens is when the lights go out, a sure clue someone is going to get killed.

Despite its predictability, it does have some merit. However, if you are looking for thrills or that adrenalin rush one gets from a horror movie, this is not one of those movies. Although, it will keep you sitting on your seat more for the intensity but not for the emotional physiological appeal that a horror film strives to create in the minds of its audience: fear, disgust, shock and terror.

Highlights of Today’s Show...
Interview with Elena Linares, Ray Barkley, and Keith Longmore
Orlando, FL. — Who needs a rattling alarm clock when the one and only talk show host, Jose Miranda, is willing to wake up his listeners with a roaring monologue before going on to discussing a few important issues, including taking a direct hit from the first caller. Talk about turning up the heat just to make a point! However, we did say this show is about dialogue whether we agree or disagree it is an open forum.

Unfortunately, YSL’s guest interviewee Jason Garcia was unable to make the show. Luckily the team was on point and there were other guests lined up for the hour.

Moving ahead, Jose introduces Ray Barkley from Cypress Cigars Club in Winter Haven. A cozy little establishment where one can relax to enjoy a good cigar. The atmosphere there is friendly. The leather seats inviting plus the high definition televisions make for an experience like none other. It’s no wonder it caught Miranda’s eye! If you want to visit their website go to www.cypresscigarclub.com.

Next on the YSL guest list is Elena Linares. Linares is the proprietor of Razzledazzle Barber Shop. A 40s New York style barbershop offering an array of real treats for men. The novelty here is you’re being pampered by seductive hot women wearing corsets and ready to give you the experience of a lifetime. And, of course there’s the gent who’s eager to give those grimy shoes one good old-fashioned spit shine while maintaining order. One can say this is your all-in-one barber shop and what man doesn’t wish to be spoiled rotten. If you happen to be in Miami or Coral Gables, stop in and tell them Yo Soy Latino sent you. Their prices are reasonable and gift certificates are available. However, to enjoy the full visual effects we suggest you go to www.razzledazzlebarbershop.com and sneak a peek for yourself.. You won’t be disappointed!

Last but not least on the YSL guest list is none other than Keith Longmore, publisher of West Orlando News and the Pine Hill News. Longmore when asked by Miranda, “What’s going on in the news today?” was quick to jump in and say, “the number of Floridians on food stamps today is huge. In 2008 it was about 31.6 million. A year later it increased to 37.1 million.”

“Though it has dipped slightly over the past year, according to the Department of Children and Families, workers are still seeing a load of about 57,000 cases per month. But what’s scary is that the unemployment data is not yet showing a decline, remaining steadfast at 11.4%.”

Unfortunately, that’s all the time we had. Remember voting season is just 6 weeks away before elections. Do your research, be informed and vote for the candidate that BEST represents you.

Fashion/Beauty...

Skinny Jeans — Hot 2011 Fashion Trend!
September 25, 2010
When it comes to the skinny jean there are a few things to consider. What fashion statement are you trying to achieve and what definitely adds a balance to the look since the purpose is to give you a more elongated, chic, sophisticated and fashionable form without making it too choppy or unflattering?

As you know 2011 is all about layering, creating a straight and narrow long slimming layers result. To enhance this hot fashion trend consider a long tunic, a cardigan sweater or tuxedo jacket, even a white tapered button down shirt. Any one of these tops goes really well with the skinny jean. However, if you prefer the loose flowing tops add tunics that are more narrow and straight or a belted cardigan perhaps a sleek vest worn over a loose t-shirt, which will look absolutely amazing when worn with a pair of skinny jeans.

To complete the look you may want to add a thin belt loosely hugging your hips, jewelry (a pair of dangling earrings), handbag, long silk scarf to wrap around your neck and of course the shoes. The ideal shoes will tie the outfit together perhaps high heeled booties maybe even a nice pair of stilettos or chic ballet flats for a more feminine fashion statement.

Also, try to avoid shirts tops or sweaters that fall above the waist as you want the eye to flow with no distractions. Remember the key fashion trend here is balance — a balance to the ensemble but more importantly to your silhouette and please don’t tuck in your tops. Fluidity and long flowing tops are much more flattering to the figure than their counterparts. Make sure your jeans are made with some Lycra or spandex as this will retain its bounce back shape after each wash.

Baseball Updates!
By Anthony Gaenzle
"The major league baseball regular season is down to the last two weeks and the playoff picture is starting to reveal itself.

In the National League the Phillies, despite being down 7 games less than 2 months ago, have been unstoppable as of late and lead the NL east by 7 games.

The Reds have the central division wrapped up as they lead the Cardinals by 7 games and in San Francisco, the Giants have made a comeback to lead the San Diego Padres by one game, in what is the only tight race in the national league.

On the other side of things, in the American League, the Minnesota Twins have secured their spot in the playoffs, celebrating with champagne showers as they lead the AL central by 11 and a half games.

The Texas Rangers are feeling confident with a 7 game lead in the west division.

That comfort level is not felt in the east however, as the Tampa Bay Rays lead the NY Yankees by only half a game.

Next Saturday tune in to get a final picture of who will be in the playoffs and who will be taking an early vacation."

Mmmm Recipe...
Swordfish Puttanesca
In Italian, Puttanesca literally means "Whore's Sauce". This titillating name comes from the fact that this sauce could be whipped up from staples you'd find in your cupboard and for all you unattached men out there it could be prepared on the fly for a lady. In our Swordfish Puttanesca, tart briny olives and capers tempered by rich pine nuts and sweet tomatoes counterbalance the oily texture of the fish.

WINE Suggestion:
2006 Marquis de Fesques Cassis, Domaine du Bagnol ($24)
2005 Trimbach Pinot Blanc, Alsace ($12)

Yields: 6 servings • Total Cook Time: 15 minutes • Prep Time: 10 minutes
Under 400 Calories! Carlories per Serving: 384

Ingredients:
2 lb swordfish steaks
1 cup Kalamata olives
1/2 cup capers
1/2 cup pine nuts
2 cup2 cherry tomatoes
2 cloves of garlic
1 lemon
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsps olive oil
handful of fresh parsley

Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.) Place pine nuts on a baking sheet and toast in oven for 5 minutes or until browned.

3.) Roughly chop olives and parsley. Finely mince garlic and halve tomatoes. Zest the peel of the lemon and reserve the rest.

4.) In a large sauté pan, heat butter and 2 tbsps olive oil over medium-high heat. Lightly season swordfish on both sides with salt and fresh ground black pepper.

5.) When butter and olive oil start to smoke slightly, add swordfish. Sear 2 minutes on each side.

6.) Cover sauté pan, turn heat to medium-low, and let cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let rest.

7.) In a separate small sauté pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Sauté garlic for 1 minute. Add pine nuts, olives, capers, tomatoes and lemon zest. Cook over medium to medium-low heat for 5 minutes or until tomatoes soften. Gently stir to ensure there is no burning.

8.) To plate, top swordfish steaks with puttanesca sauce. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and a squeeze of the reserved lemon.

The Green that Protects Your Tummy from Food Poising!
Any fan of Mexican food is familiar with cilantro. But here's something you may not know about it. The pungent green could fend off gut-cramping illness.

Potent compounds in cilantro appear to be quite a match against a strain of salmonella common in food poisoning. So go ahead and chop some cilantro into your next pool-party salsa. You just might keep the dip safer, thanks to the strong antibacterial action of substances in the green, and if you add extra onions to your salsa for good measure, they’ll help battle salmonella, too.

Upcoming Show.....
Izzy Sanabria!

Izzy Sanabria is most recognized as Master of Ceremonies with The Fania All-Stars. He is also remembered for his artistic abilities which graced the album covers of many of the great Latin artists. While some may think of him as “Mr. Salsa,” a name he designed himself during the 70s which stuck.

However, if you are like most you will associate him for his endeavors as the publisher of Latin New York. A publication which motivated other Latinos to branch out and create new magazines that revolutionized Latin culture, its artists, its actors, writers, musicians and the dance of New York known as SALSA. Of course, Symphony Sid played his part in this movement.

It is YSL’s pleasure to have as our guest of the hour, Mr. Izzy Sanabria. So come back next week October 2nd and join YSL hosts, Jose Miranda and Haydee Ayala as they stroll down memory lane on the Big 810 AM WEUS.

This was a suspenseful and for the most part a well-crafted film. It had plenty of shots of beautiful scenery in the Italian countryside but like Machete it had highs and lows throughout the movie.

Award Winner George Clooney is excellent! He plays this mysterious character with a tense singularity of purpose, an assassin who takes a vacation. Though he maintains his powerful screen presence, the movie lacks the oomph of Bourne. Overall, I must admit it did keep my interest!

Stomping Feet!
September 18, 2010
Fashion Week is all about walking the walk. Just as the Emmy Awards gives you a preview of what we can expect for the season. However, some models including some of the celebrities like Lady Gala were in rare toe form.

We can all agree that Lady G is quite the entertainer most known for her songs and her outlandish outfits from head to toe. However, for those of you who saw the Awards you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Shoes are my favorite vice! But, when I saw her lift her dress and took a good look at her shoes well that for me was a shoe stopper! Here I am week after week introducing grace, sophistication, glam, style but never did I think we would toss the perfect swag from one that would be stomping it!

If you are like most when it comes to fashion, all women reveal in their favorite vice: Shoes! And, I for one will be in the front row of Fashion Week to note the best and the worst. Not all shoes are hot, some do miss the mark.

What can we expect well there are platform ones, velvet ones, strappy ones to the more conservative or seductive studded booty. We can even track the fringe, cut-outs, and clogs as recurring trends on the fast-moving toes of the fashion set.

And from last season's favorites to brand new styles, with more suede, leather, and stride than you can shake a heel at. Except this time I have to say DON’T be a slave to fashion... unless you’re considering several trips to your podiatrist for problem feet.

Select shoes not for what’s in but for style comfort and appeal. I believe in putting the sexy back to your toes without sacrificing a woman’s feet or walk. Remember how you pamper your feet today will go a long way tomorrow in having healthy smooth feet.

NFL Updates
By Anthony Gaenzle
Week one of the NFL season is in the books. There are plenty of stories to tell, but I’ve narrowed it down to just a few due to time constraints.

The injury bug plagued the game pitting the Green Bay Packers against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers were dealt a huge blow when running back Ryan Grant went out with an injury and is not expected to be back this week.

The Eagles did not go unscathed themselves. Linebacker Stewart Bradley and Quarterback Kevin Kolb were both hurt. Both are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

The injury to the Eagle’s quarterback opens the door for fallen start Michael Vick to step up and take the reigns at the position. If Kolb cannot play this Sunday and Vick has a decent game, Philly fans will have a frenzy of strongly voiced opinions ready for the media.

Eagle’s rival the New York giants got a win over the Carolina Panthers, despite 4 turnovers. The sloppy victory sends the Giants off to a 1 and 0 start despite Anthony’s prediction that the team will fail miserably.
As the season progresses we will continue to bring you the key points and latest happenings. Next week though we switch the focus to baseball as the playoffs loom in the distance.

Mmmm Recipe...
Potato Bacon Soup with Cheddar Cheese and Leeks
Creamy potato bacon soup is a wonderful dish to warm up with during winter. One of the highlights of this recipe is the mix of textures - a rich broth is thickened with potatoes and garnished with crisp bacon. Leeks also add a subtle flavor and cheddar cheese a touch of tang. This can also be made as a vegetarian dish excluding the bacon and using vegetable rather than chicken stock.

WINE Suggestion:
2002 Charles Schleret Riesling, Herrenweg, Alsace ($25)
2007 Chateau St. Michelle Riesling, Columbia Valley ($9)

Yields: 8 servings • Total Cook Time: 2 hours • Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
3 pounds Russett potatoes
3-4 leeks, cleaned with leaves removed
8 cups low-sodium chicken stock
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup cream
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sherry
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsps ground nutmeg
4 strips bacon
salt and pepper

Directions:
1.) Peel and halve potatoes. Coarsely chop leeks. Grate cheese. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2.) In a large stockpot, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add leeks and stir regularly for 5 minutes or until they become soft.

3.) Add potatoes and stock and bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

4.) Place bacon on a baking sheet and cook in oven for 20 minutes or until crisp. Remove from oven and place on paper towels to remove excess grease. When cooled, chop into bits and reserve.

5.) After simmering, add cream and sherry to the soup, then mix in a blender or in the pot using a hand-blender until smooth.

7.) Dredge grated cheese in flour and add to pot, stirring in until cheese is melted.

8.) Cook at a low boil, uncovered, for another 1/2 hour to allow mixture to cook down and thicken slightly.

9.) Season with nutmeg, and add salt and pepper to taste. To serve, ladle soup into bowls and top with bacon. Enjoy!

Health....
Top Pizza With This to Keep Arteries Clear!
Turn your pizza into a heart-friendly treat by halving the cheese and loading on this artery-loving topping instead: mushrooms.

Yep, a study had researchers wondering if mushrooms may have the power to stop artery-narrowing atherosclerosis before it even starts. Good news for your next pizza party and for your ticker. In the recent lab study, researchers noticed that bathing human aorta cells in mushroom extract seemed to interrupt two different inflammation-induced cellular processes known to trigger plaque buildup inside blood vessel walls.
It's not clear why the extract had this effect, but it could be due to any one of a number of nutrients in the fungi, including polyphenols, selenium, copper, and an antioxidant called ergothioneine. All of these nutrients may play a role in quelling inflammation and blocking the cellular mechanisms that trigger atherosclerosis.

Are you picky about mushrooms? No worries. The study used a wide array of varieties, including the very popular white button mushrooms easily found in most grocery stores. Use them to top pizzas, add them to stews for more flavor, or simply sauté and serve them on the side of whatever else you're cooking. More research is needed to confirm the artery benefits, but since mushrooms are low-cal and nutritious, you've got little to lose in adding them to your meals.

Review Summary
31/2 Stars
Machete is one action pack movie! Even the cast is very impressive (Danny Trejo, Steven Segal, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, Jessica Alba, Robert DeNiro and Lindsay Lohan).

However, it is Trejo who gives his character a soul. He plays an ex-Mexican Federal police who seeks retribution on a former boss and fortuitously becomes a hero for the Mexican resistance.

Machete contains strong language, nudity and bloody violent images. Viewer discretion is advised. Unfortunately, the movie can be outright funny or drastically dull there's no happy medium. Even though Machete continues to be a movie attraction, I'm doubtful it will make the 2011 contenders list.

Highlights of Today’s Show...
Interview with Linda Rodriguez Bernfeld...
Orlando, FL — Once again YSL’s host Jose Miranda turns the studio on its ear as he begins the hour with one resounding Good Morning Vietnam! While co-host Haydee Ayala glances at him and smiles at his colorful and playful energy. After some light humor between the two hosts, Miranda starts talking on a more solemn note.

He opens with the disaster of September 11 thinking of all those individuals who perished that day. Those men and women regardless of the risks to themselves reaching out to help other survivors out of the debris of a fallen tower showed selfless heroism. More important, how Americans came together forgetting their differences and demonstrated unity under one nation.

Next Miranda addresses the lost of a colleague, radio talk show host George Crossley. Crossley who lived life doing what he believed in most, helping others less fortunate used his voice to create wakefulness in Orlando and will be missed.

Miranda turns to fellow host Haydee Ayala to learn what’s going on in the world of Fashion. Then it was on to movies. Following the review, Jose introduces Annie Adorno and Jetzy Ruiz. The two young ladies will host an hourly program on the Big 810AM WEUS called BidOnMyAuto.com beginning September 25th. The purpose of this show is to broadcast the many services and promotions available on www.bidonmyauto.com.

Before long, Darlyn Finch walks in as Annie and Jetzy leave the studio for another entertaining segment of Scribbles’ Corner! After a few comments and exchanges with Darlyn, host Jose Miranda introduces YSL’s scribbler Darlyn Finch. She engages in some light banter with the host before introducing today’s Scribbles’ guest, the delightful Linda Rodriguez Bernfeld. Then proceeds to ask her first question, what does the SCBWI stand for?

Bernfeld, who is an accomplished writer herself, is the Regional Advisor for SCBWI Florida, which stands for Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators. An organization which brings together writers of every genre, illustrators of picture books, middle grade readers and young adult novels for children and teen.

Darlyn then asked, “What is the purpose of the SCBWI Critique Groups?” Linda replies these groups are designed to help writers develop their craft and are free to anyone who wishes to participate. They meet up monthly to review material but after the first encounter most join. For dates go to www.scbwiflorida.com and click on the Critique Group tab.

The end to the hour approaches and Linda imparts her wisdom to all new writers. Keep right on writing read all books that relate to your field and whenever possible attend the conferences. These conventions are worthwhile as it allows members and nonmember to network directly with publishers and agents. If you need more information on the SCBWI go to www.scbwiflorida.com. And of course if you wish to reach out to Darlyn Finch go to www.darlynfinch.com.

The Best of the Coat Trends: The Aviator Jacket
September 11, 2010
The aviator jacket represents the BEST of the coat trends this fall, having been reworked in every possible way. From an exaggerated collar that give a modern twist to an otherwise humdrum neckline to those fabric favorites like soft leather and sheep skin! Plus, it is adorned with buckles and straps with gilets for added contrast and oomph.

This coat is ideal mainly because it can be worn with just about anything, from a sheath dress to those tight skinny jeans. To change the look a bit and give it a flirty feel, roll up the sleeves add some elbow length leather gloves and pair it with some knee high boots. But, if you prefer a more womanly look, consider the new maxi-length jersey skirts add a white shirt and pair it with a thin delicate ankle strap high heel shoe. You will surely be the envy of the office.

Also, wear your hair up or pulled away as this gives more definition to the face and jaw-line and will balance out the oversized collar.

The Sports Section...
NFL Opening Week
The National Football League season kicked off Thursday night, as last year’s defending champion New Orleans Saints took on old man Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

The game was billed as an epic rematch of last year’s NFC championship game, in which a late interception of a Brett Favre pass, gave the Saints the win in overtime and a trip to the Super Bowl.

This year’s game, however, did not live up to the hype. In the end the Saints came away with a 14-9 win in a sloppy endeavor on both team’s parts. Sunday brings a new set of games, with a hope for more finely tuned play.

I’m Anthony Gaenzle and that’s it for sports this week. Come back next week for more on The Sports Section!

Mmmm Recipe...
Turkey Empanadas with Cranberry Pneapple Salsa
Got turkey leftovers? This recipe is inspired by the day after Thanksgiving but is terrific for any occasion where you've got some extra roast turkey meat and want to do something fun! These empanadas are lighter and easier than a traditional version, using phyllo dough instead of a heavier dough base. A cranberry pineapple sauce complements the turkey flavor.

WINE Suggestion:
2006 Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot, Les Grandes Terpes ($30)
2009 Georges deBoeuf Beaujolais Nouveau ($10)

Yields: 8 servings • Total Cook Time: 30 minutes • Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
1 lb roasted dark turkey meat
2 sheets frozen phyllo dough
1 can sweet corn, drained
1 can black beans
1 onion
1 clove garlic
1 lime
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp of olive oil
2 cups apple cider
1 cup orange juice
2 cups whole cranberries
1 cup pineapple chunks, drained
1/4 cup of sugar

Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2.) Roughly chop turkey meat, onion and cilantro; mince garlic. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook garlic and onions until translucent, about 3 minutes.

3.) Add corn, beans, lime juice and turkey and cook for an additional two minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, and stir in cilantro.

4.) Take phyllo dough and roll out into rectangles 4" x 3" in size. Fill a glass with water and wet edges. Add a spoonful of turkey mixture in the middle of each, fold over into a triangle and use a fork to press shut around edges.

5.) Brush outside of empanadas with olive oil and bake in oven for 25 minutes.

6.) While empanadas are baking, add cranberries, orange juice and cider in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 15 minutes. Add sugar and pineapple and cook for another 15 minutes.

7.) Finish sauce by adding to a blender and puree until smooth. Plate empanadas with sauce on the side, and a garnish of cilantro and lime wedge. Enjoy!

5 Ways to Boost Your Water Intake
1. Use a Water Filter like Brita or PUR.

2. Meet the Intake Guidelines — if you eat 2,000 calories then you should be drinking 2,000 mL.

3. Avoid drinking at Night at least two hours before bedtime as this can result in waking up during the night to urinate and un-refreshing sleep.

4. Drink Filtered Water. Drinking tap water can be contaminated with heavy metals, micro-organisms, chlorine, fluoride and other impurities.

• You can improve the quality of drinking water by filtering with a reverse osmosis system, charcoal, ceramic, or other high quality filter.

• Check bottled water — some types are not spring water but actually purified water from the same source as tap water.
• Store water in glass containers. Avoid the plastic water bottles you find at the store. If you do drink water from a soft, clear water bottle, do not reuse it.
• Avoid drinking distilled water regularly, because it can deplete your body of needed minerals.

5. Drink Warm or Room Temperature Water — You wouldn’t water your plants with freezing cold water or put icy water into your pet’s water bowl, would you? In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cold drinks disrupt the proper flow of energy in the body and “shock” the body. Stick to warm or room temperature fluids.

The dialogue in this film is a bit clichéd yet laughable and the stunt work amazing. There’s one chase scene that will have you rooting for both the cops and robbers. However, the movie is far more concerned with style, architectural, pretty faces and wardrobe, rather than substance. There just wasn’t enough meat to make it worth your time.

Fall Fashion Classics!
September 4, 2010
A great tailored jacket! Make sure it’s fitted to show off your feminine curves as this jacket will pair with just about everything from work trousers to jeans. Steer clear of those baggy masculine styles. A more tailored look will add structure to your figure: giving curvy girls more angular lines, creating a slimmer waistline for those boyish figure types while smoothing out lumps and bumps for all other shapes. Pick out fabrics like tweed, corduroy, denim or menswear plaids; or go grand with velvet, leather, and brocade.

A crisp long-sleeve white shirt is ideal for any fall wardrobe. The varieties are endless — cotton with stretch, fitted silhouettes, cuff and sleeve details collar variations — no matter the selection each works well with cardigans to jackets or just on their own with any wide-leg trouser.

Pantsuits may be this season’s best choice in power suits for the working woman. Not only are they perfect for the office but they also pull their weight after hours when paired with a silky camisole and heels. A solid black pantsuit is by far the most flattering and the most classic. Look for a fabric with drape nothing too stiff or shiny but with some stretch for comfort.

As necklines come and go the turtleneck sweater has earned its place as a classic. Here's why:

• The turtleneck draws attention to your face.
• If you don't like the bulk of a turtleneck consider a mock turtleneck as another option. It's the same height the difference is that the fabric doesn't fold back over.
• Stick with cozy, touchable materials for your turtleneck sweater because you don’t want anything itchy or scratchy on your neck area as it can be unbearable and more importantly you don’t want to be tugging at it all day or night.
• The black turtleneck is the ultimate because it creates a clear clean palette to show off wonderful necklaces, cuff bracelets or just your pretty face.

A neutral coat is a must for the season, especially one in a camel color. Not only is it an enduring fall classic, but it also has many possibilities.

Knee-high boots make great sense for fall because they let you get more wear out of everything from skinny jeans to miniskirts. Choose a mid-heel height for the most trend-proof look (something 2 inches or less). Brown boots are a great choice if you wear lots of denim BUT black boots pair with almost everything.

Accessorize by adding some bold oversized feminine pearls and layer them. Pearls are the perfect trend-proof accessory to compliment even the more structured styles of fall. Wear charcoal gray pearls mixed with black for a sexy tonal look; or choose layers of creamy white pearls worn with a simple black sheath dress for a perfect evening look. However, if you want a more edgy form wear a leather sheath with the pearls. No matter what style of dress you use the pearls will undeniably add that extra oomph.

Large leather bags will serve you well with the onset of cooler weather because you’ll be able to carry everything you need comfortably (umbrellas, wraps, whatever). The leather bag doesn't have to be boring either as there are many styles to choose from — logo types, patent, exotic skins, quilting, bold hardware, bright colors and much more — but the most classic looks have a ladylike feel to them and understated luxury, unlike those in-today/out-tomorrow bags. It's one splurge you'll be smiling about simply because you’ll get lots of mileage on your investment.

The Sports Section...
Major League Baseball – The National League Pennant Race
We continue this week, talking about the Major League Baseball playoff race. Our focus will shift from the American League to the National League, as things really start to heat up.

In the National League’s Central division, the bats have really been connecting for the upstart Cincinnati Reds as they extend their division lead to 7 and a half games over the struggling St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals were a pre-season favorite to win the Central, but the Reds have other plans.

In the East division, the Atlanta Braves cling to a 3 game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves were unable to capitalize on a dismal performance by the Phillies who lost four straight games to Houston. The Phillies have been in the World Series each of the last two years and now find them self in an unfamiliar spot, fighting just to make the playoffs.

The San Diego Padres have a 4 game lead over the San Francisco Giants for the 3rd automatic playoff bid, as they lead the National League West division.

The winners of each of the three divisions earn an automatic spot in the National League playoffs. The 4th and final spot is up for grabs in the wild card race. The team with the best record out of all non-division winners in the National League will take that spot.

Currently the Philadelphia Phillies are leading the wild card race by 1 and a half games over San Francisco. The Colorado Rockies are in third, trailing the Phillies by 4 and a half games.

That is all for the sports section for this week. More next week from the amazing Anthony!

Mmmm Recipe...
New York Strip Steak
This recipe calls for a great cut of New York strip steak not overly lean so it stays juicy during cooking but delivers great full flavor and meaty texture. Combine it with a flavorful simple Red Wine Sauce and a delicious side of thick-cut Parmesan French Fries and you have one delicious meal. The red wine sauce gets a boost from sliced shallots, and slow reduction concentrates flavors.

WINE Suggestion:
2005 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley ($40)
2005 E. Guigal, Côtes du Rhone ($10)

Yields: 4 servings • Total Cook Time: 30 minutes • Prep Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:
2 lbs New York strip steak
4 russett or Idaho potatoes
5-6 cups of vegetable oil
3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
1 cup red wine
1/2 cup beef stock
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1 large shallot
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsps parsley

Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees and season steak on both sides with salt and fresh pepper. Peel potatoes and cut into long, thin strips. Slice shallot into rings. Chop parmesan.

2.) Melt butter in a sauce pan, add shallots, and stir until they soften.

3.) Add wine to deglaze the pan, using a wooden spoon to dislodge any browned bits and dissolve into sauce. Add beef stock and tomato paste. Simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally.

4.) Heat vegetable oil over high heat in medium-sized pot. Fill until about 2" of oil are in pot - the amount needed will depend on the dimensions of your pot.

5.) Check that oil is hot enough by carefully inserting one test into oil - if it bubbles, it's ready. If it doesn't, increase temperature slightly, wait and retest. When ready, slowly add potatoes since oil will increase in volume. Stir occasionally for 20 minutes or until edges are nicely brown.

6.) In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Place steaks in skillet and sear 1 minute on each side.

7.) After searing, move skillet to oven to finish. Steaks will take 12 minutes for medium rare. If preferred more or less done, adjust cooking time.

8.) Strain fries from oil and dry on paper towels. Lightly salt then toss with parsley and parmesan.

9.) Let steaks rest, then slice, plate with sauce and fries, and serve!

Can Autism be Detected in Infants 6 Months Old?
A new study reveals that scientists may have uncovered signs of autism in 6-months old babies. Though the report is still uncertain, it is best to be aware of the warning signs so that you can alert your pediatrician if you notice them in your baby. Here are a few possible warning signs to determine if your child’s development warrants further testing by your pediatrician.

By 2 to 3 months, your baby isn't making frequent eye contact.

By 3 months, he isn't smiling at you and the sound of your voice.

By 6 months, he doesn't laugh or make other joyful expressions.

Around 8 months, he isn't following your gaze when you look away from him towards something else.

By 9 months, he hasn't begun to babble.

By 1 year, he isn't consistently turning to you when you call his name. He shows a general disregard for vocalizations (i.e., lack of response to his name), but has a keen awareness of environmental sounds. Also, he isn't engaging in back-and-forth vocalizations with you, hasn't begun to wave bye-bye or he isn't "following a point" (looking towards something you point at).

By 16 months, he has no words.

By 18 months, he isn't pointing to things that interest him.

By 24 months, he has no two-word meaningful phrases.

At any time, he shows a loss of any of his previously mastered skills.

Kevin Carson played by Bow Wow wins $370 million in a nationwide lottery. Suddenly everyone in the hood discovers he has the winning ticket and now is forced to find ways to survive the greedy and intimidating actions of the people in the hood. Over a three-day holiday weekend no less before he can actually claim his prize.

And for anyone who grew up in the projects you’ll be able to relate too much of the stereotype that goes along with life in public housing. However, Ice Cube is the real surprise. He plays a picture perfect character of a senile old man complete with spectacles, false teeth and a graying beard. Just seeing him give a contemporary Shakespearean slant to his character is worth the ticket alone. The film is one delightfully funny “hood” comedy with heart.

Highlights of Today’s Show...
Interview with Danny Ramos and Keu Reyes
Orlando, FL — Today YSL’s host Jose Miranda opens with one lively animated, “Good Morning Viet Nam!” A little exuberant perhaps maybe even unorthodox, nonetheless it got everyone’s attention for you knew things were going to be shaken up a bit. With the phone lines opened, Miranda kicks off on a cool and swinging note, the Glenn Beck rally, which took place today on the anniversary of Dr. King’s 1963 march in Washington on the very spot where Dr. King recited his speech “I have A Dream”.

Beck insist he was reasserting the “civil rights” that Dr. King pursued during his life was this coincidence, a twist of fate, divine intervention or an exploitation to promote another agenda; and, let’s not forget the tea party’s darling Sarah Palin, a woman who marches to her own drummer. Immediately the phone lines were ringing and the conversation in the studio got somewhat heated. However, the reality of mixing both ideologies that of Dr. King to Glenn Beck and the Tea Party is about as compatible as night and day.

Changing strategies a bit Miranda turns to YSL’s co-host Haydee Ayala for a look into fashion and this week’s movie pick. Before engaging guest, Danny Ramos, CEO of the National Hispanic Corporate Achievers (a non-profit organization) into a conversation about the recently passed license plate which allows Florida drivers to express pride in their Hispanic heritage.

This specialty plate we’re told will be going into production soon and should become available to the many Latinos who live in Florida within the next two years. All profits from the tag would be split into administrative cost, local grants and the reminder used for scholarships and programs throughout the state. We as Latinos express our pride in our music, in our dance, in our culture so why not in unity, reserve your plate today! If you wish to reach out to Danny Ramos go to www.hispanicachievers.org.

Next, Jose introduces Keu Reyes, writer/director/producer/actor and comic for Latino 101. After an exchanged of pleasantries and maybe a brief conversation on what he thought about Beck’s rally, Miranda decides to give Keu a little good-natured ribbing before discussing the latest going ons with Latino 101, including this season guests beginning with Edward James Olmos and Cheech & Chong.

Latino 101 can be seen on SiTV every Friday at 9 p.m. You can reach out to Keu on LinkedIn and Facebook or simply drop him an email at keu@artisticwarfare.com.

Best Mascaras on the Market!
August 28, 2010
If you want the very best mascara that will make your lashes appear long, full and lush while never looking clumpy, or running onto your face, here are ten suggestions:
1. Best Overall Mascara: Lancôme Definicils

2. Best Volumizing Mascara: Prescriptives 'Lash Envy' Mascara for full plum lashes all day

3. The Celebrity Favorite Mascara: Bobbi Brown 'Everything'

4. Best Drugstore Buy: Maybelline Great Lash (best waterproof mascara on the market). It doesn't clump, lasts a long time and won't come off easily.

5. Best Multi-Talented Mascara: Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara. At $6.99 you get a lot for your money: A flat side that layers on gel-based color and a curved side that lifts and separates lashes.

6. Best Volume Mascara: Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara a must-have because it makes your eyes look super big.

7. Makeup Artist's Favorite Mascara: Maybelline XXL Volume + Length

8. Great Overall Budget Mascara: L'Oreal Voluminous — this mascara enhances with hair conditioners panthenol and cermide-R, this product is a must-have, no clumping.

9. Best for Super-Thick, Long Lashes: Lancôme Hypnose — the effect of this mascara is much like that of false eyelashes and a favorite.

10. The Hottest Mascara Trend of the Moment: Blinc's "Tube" Mascara because it creates tiny, water-resistant "tubes" around lashes, which makes them appear thicker and longer than lashes painted by common mascaras.

The Sports Section
Baseball – The Final Stretch by Anthony Gaenzle
For this week’s sports section we are going to shift the focus from football to baseball.

As the season approaches the final stretch, the race to make the playoffs is heating up. This week the focus is on the American league.

With four playoff spots available in the American league, it’s clear that Florida’s own Tampa Bay Rays and the N.Y. Yankees are well in control. Only one however, can win the automatic pennant spot by winning the division.

The other has to maintain their momentum and simply stay in the first spot of the wildcard race. Three American League teams get automatic spots by winning their division and the fourth spot is up for grabs in the form of a wildcard spot.
The Yankees and Rays are even up at 78 wins and 49 losses a piece, each a league best. The way it stands now they both look set to make the playoffs.

The Minnesota Twins lead the Chicago White Sox by 3 and a half games in the American League Central and the Texas Rangers are dominating the American League West, leading the Oakland A’s by 8 and a half games.

Next week we will shift the focus to the National League teams, covering the race between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves for the National League East and all the rest of the excitement. Stay tuned for that.

Mmmm Recipe...
Fun Appetizer! Steak Lettuce Wraps
Steak lettuce wraps are a fun appetizer to serve at a party because guests can construct them themselves, and are so simple to make you can also enjoy them any night of the week. Made from a lean but still flavor cut of beef - the top blade, or flat iron - this cut is flavorful and juicy still when quickly seared and is quite affordable. A tangy sauce made of lime and mint adds an exotic, fresh flavor.

You might think that the best wine pairing with any steak dish is always going to be a rich red, but with this preparation we find that a lively rosé is just right. Rosé will liven up the taste buds over appetizers, and has the bright acidity to work well with the citrus elements in the dish. Our 'steal' rosé is from the Northwest U.S., and our 'Splurge' is from one of our favorite parts of the world - Provence.

WINE Suggestion:
2009 Domaines Ott Les Domaniers, Côtes de Provence — From the reigning region of rosé - Provence. Classic, elegant and refreshing! ($19.99)

"Steal"
2009 Murphy's Law Rosé,Northwest U.S. — A blend of grapes from both Oregon and Washington states, using traditional Rhone varieties. ($12)

Yields: 8 servings • Total Cook Time: 15 minutes • Prep Time: 2-24 hours to marinade

Ingredients:
1 lb top blade steak (about 4 cuts)
1 head of Boston lettuce
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
4 tbsp olive oil
6 clementines or other tangerines
2 limes
1 bunch fresh mint leaves

Directions:
1.) To prep the steaks, feel the area through the middle of the steak for a streak of tough connective tissue. Divide each steak cut in half along this area and trim it away. Season both sides with salt and fresh ground pepper.
2.) In a medium bowl, add juice from the clementines, with 1/4 cup vinegar and honey. Add steaks and marinade in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.

3.) In a blender, mix juice from the limes, mint leaves, 1/4 cup vinegar and 2 tbsp olive oil. Make sure to season with salt and pepper to taste.

4.) Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large pan and sear each steak about 1 minute on each side for medium rare. If you prefer more doneness, cook up to an extra minute on each side for well. Place meat on a fresh plate to rest for 5 minutes.

5.) After resting, slice steak into 1" strips. Wash and dry the lettuce, pulling apart individual leaves.

6.) Serve steak and lettuce leaves with mint sauce on the side. Your guests can make their own wraps by placing a steak strip in the center of a lettuce leaf, and dressing with sauce. Simply roll up and enjoy!

Enjoy Spot-Free Skin with this Dark Red Fruit!
Sun spots are right up there with wrinkles when it comes to the list of skin defects we'd all rather avoid. But keeping sun spots at bay may be as easy as munching on sweet, tangy pomegranate seeds.

Sunscreen is step one in avoiding sun spots. But according to Allison Tannis, author of Feed Your Skin, Starve Your Wrinkles, nutrients found in deep ruby-red pomegranate seeds may hinder abnormal changes in skin color brought on by long-term sun exposure.

Pomegranate Protection
The main nutrient in question is Ellagic acid. But that's not all. The age-fighting antioxidants in pomegranates may be particularly skin-friendly as well. In fact, Tannis claims that the antioxidant capacity of pomegranates is so powerful that they're able to neutralize twice as many skin-damaging free radicals as red wine, and seven times as many free radicals as green tea.

Cool the Flames
Pomegranates are also loaded with anthocyanins — powerful inflammation-fighting antioxidants that give the pomegranate even more super-for-your-skin status. So pick up a pom, and pop out those seeds. Or save yourself the inconvenience by buying frozen or refrigerated packages of pre-extracted pomegranate seeds from the grocery store. They're great in cereal and oatmeal, on yogurt or salad, or just by the handful. Or simply buy some juice, and cool down with this thirst-quenching Hibiscus-Pomegranate Iced Tea recipe (for recipe go to realage.com.

Review Summary
4 stars
The reviews are mixed for this particular movie. However, I found Julia Roberts’ portrayal of Liz Gilbert to be absolutely delightful. The film depicts Gilbert’s life as a modern successful woman who has everything – a husband, a house, a promising career – and yet she’s terribly unhappy, which is a side affect of most women who discover their husbands are having an affair. Of course, there’s a divorce and as a newly divorcee, she finds herself lost, confused, and searching mainly for what she truly wants in life.

Finding herself at a crossroad she decides to steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life around. Robert embarks on a year-long journey around the world and as she does she begins to discover the most minuscule things...the true pleasure of eating during her stay in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali. The locales Indonesia, Italy and India (the three I’s) are spectacular totally breathtaking!

If you are like most that have not read the book but have a personal like for Roberts then this movie is worth seeing.

Interview with
Matt Faulkner, Orange County candidate in Mayor Race and
Sam Lopez, Chairman of the Florida Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

By Anthony Gaenzle
Orlando, FL. — Jose and Haydee hosted a lively edition of Yo Soy Latino on Saturday, discussing politics, sports, handling calls from familiar listeners and speaking with in-studio guests. The show also ventured into a new era as Jose informed listener that they will now be able to view the show on the popular website Ustream by checking out Yo Soy Latino with Jose Miranda and Haydee Ayala.

Via cell phone, mayoral hopeful Matt Faulkner spoke with Miranda. Faulkner was excited about his position in the race, considering the experience of his opponents.
Voicing his slogan, “tax payers first”, Faulkner explained that he wanted to put the people first over special interest, which has been a theme in the political world as election time approaches.

Battling traffic issues, Samuel Lopez arrived at the studio just in time to speak with Jose as Yo Soy Latino reached closing time for the weekend. Lopez is the chairman of the Florida Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce.

Pressed for time, Lopez voiced his concern that the Hispanic community of Florida needs to “step up to the plate and kick down that door” and become a part of the political process. He stressed that the communities leaders needed to become a stronger part of the decision making.

For more information on Lopez, listeners can call (321)-863-5165, email him at slopez@samuellopez.com, or visit the website at www.puertoricanchamber.com.

As always, be sure to check out the entire show by visiting the archives section of www.yosoylatino.us. Remember to listen to the show each Saturday from noon until 1 pm and now you can check out the show on Ustream as well.

Hairstyles – Take a trip down to Memory Lane!
August 21, 2010
As a supplement to last week’s editorial “A Return to the 50s!” I thought I would revisit a few of the hairstyles we can look forward to for 2010.

In the 40s, the retro look was quite popular; you could see it everywhere — in the shops, in the runways even as you walked down the streets of any city. This style had a lot of sophistication, and even today designers are incorporating hair a bit more to their fashions giving it that elegant twist combining it with rolls and braids galore.

These hairstyles do take a great deal of work and of course will require some hair products, but if you normally spend time fixing your hair in the morning, which we all do, this should not be a problem.

As always there is something for everyone, if you have long hair reinvent the ponytail by turning the ponytail upside down and inside up — the result is a twisted roll effect on either side of the ponytail. Short, curly or straight hair can be rolled, hair that is overlapping upon itself, having a beautiful, full shape without the directional influences that a twisted roll has.

The sidebar and the layers are becoming increasingly popular. However, this year it is the short cuts that are making a comeback; as well as colors like red, copper and more shades of pink to red. The 2010 hairstyles will be more eye popping and dazzling with bright red tones.

And, of course, don’t forget hair accessories which can add a special touch to your style. Choosing something shiny or plastic can update your look with little effort.

The Sports Section
In this week’s “Sport’s Section” we follow up on the notable NFL storylines that our intern Anthony brought to us 3 weeks ago.

One storyline of note came to us from Minnesota. Mr. Brett Favre’s annual flirtation with retirement came to an abrupt end, as three fellow players from the Minnesota Vikings made the trip to Mississippi, where Favre lives, to talk the quarterback into returning. Favre claims THIS year will be the final one, but we won't be holding our breath.

Speaking of holding our breath, Washington Redskins fans are holding their collective breath, waiting to see if Lineman Albert Haynesworth will actually be physically able to play this season. Considered by some to be lazy, Haynesworth passed his conditioning test after numerous attempts, only to miss yet another practice because he felt ill on the field. Washington fans don't get your hopes up.

About 900 miles west of Washington, the Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco show has not panned out for the Cincinnati Bengals so far. Aside from a 60 plus yard catch by Owens in the Bengals pre-season game against the Eagles, the dynamic duo has been largely disappointing. Fortunately the Bengals defense looks really solid.

That’s it for the Sports Section for now, but we will be back with another installment next week.

Mmmm Recipe...
Braised Beef Short Ribs with Cheddar Polenta
Beef short ribs are a great go-to dish for entertaining -they are flavorful, make a beautiful presentation, and require minimal effort after the initial prep. Slow braising tenderizes the meat so it practically falls off the bone, and the flavors of the cooking liquid reduce and intensify over a low boil.

This Braised Beef Short Ribs Recipe is a homerun for wine pairing - red wine is one of the braising liquids so the flavors marry beautifully. With the richness of the ribs, we like an equally rich red wine. Our splurge is a sumptuously wonderful Margaux from the terrific 2005 vintage. Our steal is a Malbec - one of the lesser-known Bordeaux varieties - from Argentina.

WINE Suggestion:
2005 Chateau Dauzac, Margaux
Incredibly delicious and rich now with intense fruit flavors, this also has lots of aging potential. ($55)

"Steal"
2008 Bodega Norton Malbec, Mendoza
One of the five Bordeaux red grapes, Malbec is the wine star of Argentina -- spicy, yet smooth. ($10)

Yields: 4 servings • Total Cook Time: 2 hours

Ingredients:
1.5 lb beef short ribs
6 cups low-sodium beef stock
1 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes with juice
2 carrots
4 celery stalks
1 lg yellow onion
1 cup fine yellow cornmeal
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup red wine
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
1.) Dice carrots, celery and onion. Generously season rips with salt and fresh ground black pepper.

2.) Heat olive oil in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add ribs and brown on all sides, about 1 minute per side. Add carrots, celery and onion and cook for about 3 minutes.

3.) Add wine and let cook off for roughly 3-4 minutes, then add 4 cups of stock, tomatoes (including juice), sugar, Worcestershire sauce and thyme, basil and oregano.

4.) Reduce heat so liquid stays at a low boil and cook covered for 2 hours.

5.) In a separate sauce pan, heat remaining 2 cups of stock over medium-high heat.

6.) When at a boil, add cornmeal and turn off heat. Let sit for 5 minutes, then stir in parmesan, nutmeg and add salt and pepper to taste.

7.) To plate, spoon a serving of polenta onto plate and smooth out. Layer 2 short ribs on top of polenta and ladle with cooking liquid.

7 Ways to get the best sleep ever!
You've done all the obvious stuff — cut out late-night caffeine, made sure your bedroom is dark and cozy, avoided scary movies or struggling with your to-do list right before bed. So why are you still tossing and turning?
"Certain habits you're unaware of could be sabotaging your sleep," says Kristen L. Knutson, Ph.D., assistant professor and sleep specialist at the University of Chicago's Department of Medicine.

And, as you may know, lack of shut-eye doesn't just leave you foggy the next day: Chronic, long-term insufficient sleep ups your odds of diabetes, depression, cardiovascular disease, even weight gain. So what to do? Try these unexpected tweaks, and wake up feeling incredibly well-rested.

Step 1: Halt your afternoon habit
Avoid drinking coffee or tea right before you hit the sack won't do you any sleep favors.

Step 2: Choose sleep superfoods
Avoid a heavy meal right before bed (a full stomach will disturb your sleep). If you've had a few nights of restless sleep, make a light whole-wheat-pasta dish with fresh vegetables, a little diced chicken breast, tomato sauce, and a sprinkle of Parmesan for dinner. This meal contains a snooze-friendly combination of protein and tryptophan, an amino acid that converts to sleep-promoting serotonin in the body.
If your stomach's growling late at night, try a small bowl of cottage cheese with banana slices, another dish that serves up tryptophan. Other combos of healthy carbs and protein, such as milk and graham crackers or yogurt sprinkled with cereal, will also do the trick.

Step 3: Sip wine sooner
Have it with dinner -- around 6 p.m. rather than 11-- and drink in moderation, so it'll wear off by the time you lie down.

Step 4: Take an early soak
Like to unwind in the tub before you snooze do it when you get home from work, not right before turning in.

Step 5: Stretch for sleep
Getting in a little gentle, restorative yoga before you hit the sack can help put your mind at ease, steady your breath, and reduce muscle tension without revving up your heart. Lie on your back with the soles of your feet together and your knees bent and dropping toward the floor. Place your arms, palms up, by your sides, keeping your shoulders back and your chest open. Close your eyes and inhale through your nose while slowly counting to four, then exhale while counting back down to one. Continue for 10 minutes, or as long as it takes you to feel fully relaxed.

Step 6: Set the mood for slumber
Keeping your room dark while you sleep is a great start, but bringing the lights down before bed is also important.

Step 7: Ban your BlackBerry
Disconnect an hour before bed, and put any gadgets on an out-of-reach dresser or in another room so you won't be able to grab it if you get the late-night urge.

Now get ready to wake up feeling so refreshed that you won't even need to press snooze on your alarm.
