Interview with O. Deon Long and Victor Ramos...
YSL this week had the privilege of speaking with Deon Long, the young African American attorney, who was a hair’s breath away from running the local Republican Party here in Orlando and who now, incredibly enough, is fighting just to remain in the party.

YSL was also joined by the shy, reclusive Orlando Sentinel writer Mr. Victor Ramos, who some call the “the Robin Hood” of the blog “Hispanospher” an outstanding blog on all things Hispanic here in Florida.

Times are tough within the political arena these days. What with the Republican summer sexual scandals and melt downs to the inquisition of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court of the United States by sanctimonious members of congress and a push by some members of the Republican Party trying to turn back time some 50 years.

The heat was on these gentlemen to try and give our listeners an explanation on how all this is affecting us and what could we do about it. Haydee asked Mr. Long how a Republican party who boasted about inclusiveness could be so scattered in message and focus. Victor was asked how a republican party with an approval rating of about 8 percent could redeem itself within the minority communities.

So many questions so little time an hour going by in what seemed a blink of an eye. Of course we had fashion with Haydee to boots and makeup oh my. Sit back with your cup of coffee and enjoy your Yo Soy Latino heard every Saturday right here on WEUS 810 AM in Orlando, Florida or on line at www.yosoylatino.us

Haydee's Slice of Fashion
What’s New!
July 18, 2009

It is said that 2010 is going to be quite a year for fashion according to the experts. They are predicting that we'll come out from this global financial crisis and, accordingly, can expect to see new trends emerging in fashion.

Being that fashion changes daily, keeping up to date with the latest trends, looks, street styles can be mind blowing, especially when trying to stay ahead of the fashion pack. I personally am not a slave to fashion but here are a few things you can expect to be wearing for this season.

The over-the-knee / thigh-high boots is going to be a must-have item for this season. Capes, Caplets & Cloaks are making a comeback as a major fashion staple. Scoop Neck dresses are still quite popular. And, at least one pair of dark denim jeans. If you already have a solid wardrobe, don’t feel compelled to go on a shopping spree. You can change the look of any outfit merely by accessorizing or changing your makeup.

Makeup is going to play a major role in fashion—eyes painted like pop art—bold and arresting. Not everyone can carry this look but it’s creative and unique, much like the days when Twiggy was first recognized for changing the face of fashion which catapulted her to “super model” status.

Also, perfumes can add an element of intrigue. For example, Love of Pink for women is a new fruity floral fragrance from the Lacoste Pink family which encapsulates the feel of romance and love. Meanwhile, Gucci’s Envy for Men has a scent of seduction which combines masculine and contemporary elegance. Its cypress, bergamot and violet fragrance provides a very masculine and natural aroma.

Stay tuned for next weeks show when Yo Soy Latino will continue to bring you the best and brightest. Until then remember don't judge another until you have walked a mile in their Mohicans.
